Glitter Tale Review (2019)

So this is a more detailed review of my experiences ordering 2 JSK’s from Glitter Tale back in 2019. Keep in mind these are just my experiences, and it could be quite different for everyone else. Also, since it’s been over 6 months since I ordered and received the JSK’s they may have updated their processes. I still wanted to provide a more detailed break down of my experiences and to also fill in the gaps from my review on YouTube!

The Review

So I started the order process from Glitter Tale (GT) on May 27, 2019 for the Mint JSK (pictures below). I messaged GT on Facebook to see if I could get the JSK made in the same cut as a different print they had advertised at the time. They replied almost instantly and quoted me $125 USD excluding shipping and gave me a form to fill out for my measurements.

About a month and a half passed and there were no updates from GT regarding the status of the Mint JSK. So I messaged them on July 15, 2019 to ask if I could add another JSK to my order. I sent them the link to the post they had for the Astro OP and requested to have it made into a collared JSK instead. They replied the same day again, quoting me $125 USD excluding shipping for the second JSK and asked if I would be interested in a matching accessory. So I requested a matching head-bow which cost $25 USD.

After adding the second JSK I got a message from GT on July 24, 2019 saying that the Mint JSK is finished and they provided some proof pictures for review. Then on August 11, 2019 they messaged me with proof pictures for the Astro JSK and head-bow. GT also confirmed my mailing address and phone number for EMS shipping. As I mentioned in the video I didn’t get any tracking number and had no idea when they shipped it. But I did receive the JSK’s and head-bow sometime near the beginning of September 2019.

They were individually wrapped in plastic, and then the entire package was mailed in a craft paper envelope type wrapping and covered in masking tape. There was a strong smell of the tape, but luckily it didn’t transfer onto the dresses. The plastic covering on each dress also had some plastic wrapping to prevent damage I guess. GT was kind enough to give some extra buttons as well as a cute star hair clip.

Since this was a lot of text, I’ve included below my rating in 4 areas: Order Process, Accuracy, Communication, Price.

The Rating

Order Process: 4/5

  • Quick to respond to enquiries; Able to request custom designs; Just fill out a Google form with measurements and order information; I think it’d be nice if they provided a generic sketch of how your dress might look;

    Accuracy: 3.5/5

  • Some measurements were larger than anticipated; JSK cuts look just like reference photos provided; Colours look just like their photos;

Communication: 3.5/5

  • Quick to respond to general enquiries; Update on the first JSK took almost 2 months; No tracking number provided; Does provide proof photos and confirms address information.

Price: 5/5

  • Custom-sized and custom designed Lolita clothing for a price close to other indie brands (and lower than some indie brands) is great; Different shipping options available depending on how quickly you’d like it to reach you;

Total: 16/20

Overall I would recommend Glitter Tale to others, especially anyone who can benefit from a custom-sized garment (plus size and petite people especially!) but be wary some of the measurements may not be quite as accurate. Their pieces are quite affordable and they do have a variety of prints available.
